Wireless 2 way communications basic dispatch service with the proper footprint is a cost-effective way to keep in touch.

Manufactures need to focus more on the real needs of customers, instead of churning out mindless overpriced options. How many of you could actually remember whom you would be talking to on all 244 channels or need the alpha numeric display to have the ability to turn upside down?

To keep an R & D department justifying its existence that department must research & develop. The cost of this department is spread over the whole product line. A major manufacturer just introduced a wireless speaker microphone, known as "BlueTooth Technology". It actually has a 2.4 GHz transceiver in the microphone to talk to the radio. That’s right a separate 2.4 GHz transmitter in the radio just to broadcast to your hand. How much R & D cost was assigned to each product to pay for this pearl? Just give us a small radio with up to 16 channels, a longer warranty period and oh yeah how about making it user friendly and sturdy. Hold the meaningless improvements, the $ 384.00 microphones, the 244 channels, the reversible display, and the 7 scan modes.

How easy it is to forget what a customer really wants for the sake of extensive, needless features and options. When the economy takes a downward turn most of my customers look for ways to cut their costs, and radios can surly help, but not if they reflect the costs of an R & D department that is unresponsive to customer needs.

My grandfather said, "just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should".
